There are actually two types: Gingivitis, which is the most common and less severe type of gum disease, and periodontitis, which is more intense.

The first step in greatly reducing the chances that you will end up with gum disease is to brush and floss on a daily basis. Second, make sure that you are keeping an eye out for signs of gum disease, such as irritated gums, receding gum line, bad breath, and toothaches. If you experience these, talk to your dentist right away to get it taken care of before it becomes a major issue.

How to reduce your chances of getting oral cancer

There are actually a number of types of oral, gum, and mouth cancer a person can end up. The best way to avoid this is to not smoke or take part in other high-risk cancer-causing activities. You should also visit the dentist at least twice per year. This and other types of cancer are much easier to treat if they are detected early.

How to prevent losing a tooth

Many people assume that they will automatically lose their teeth as they get older. It is true that our teeth take on a lot of wear and tear over the years, but it’s also true that if they are well taken care of they can last for many, many decades. Avoid eating too much sugar, brush twice per day, floss daily, and visit your dentist twice per year to lower your chances of losing a tooth.
