Learn Essential at-Home Remedies to Try if You Have a Toothache and Can’t Get to the Dentist Right AwayIs a toothache bothering you right now? We are not envious of your suffering. A toothache is never a pleasant experience. You might be asking what you can do to aid with the discomfort. Fortunately, there are several excellent home cures that you may try (made with ingredients you probably have in your home right now).

However, before we get into the temporary fixes, you should schedule an appointment with your dentist, especially if you’ve been in discomfort for more than a day or two. While the home remedies listed below can relieve your discomfort in the short term, you will need to consult a dentist to resolve the issue.

After you’ve scheduled an appointment, you may begin researching home cures. Fortunately, the following remedies are simple to do at home, and the majority will provide rapid relief.

Ice

Put an ice cube or two in a plastic bag and apply it to the tooth’s surrounding region. Stop if it makes your discomfort worse. You can leave the ice on for around 15 minutes if it helps. Ice applied directly to the tooth helps relieve both tooth pain and gum edema surrounding the tooth. If applying ice directly to the tooth is too painful, wrap some ice in a clean towel and place it on your check, near the troublesome tooth. Apply the ice pack for 15 minutes and then reapply as required.

Clove essential oil

Clove oil is a natural numbing agent that works well. The oil should not, however, be applied directly to the hurting region. Instead, apply one or two drops of clove oil on a cotton ball and lay it against the tooth until it feels better.

Using salt water as a rinse

A salt-water rinse will aid in the reduction of edema and cleaning of the afflicted region. In a pot of boiling water, dissolve a teaspoon of salt. Rinse your mouth with salt water and spit it out after it has cooled.

Tea with peppermint

You may already drink peppermint tea to relieve stomach pains, but did you know that peppermint is also a natural numbing agent? To 8 ounces of boiling water, add a teaspoon or two. Allow for a minute of steeping. Swish the tea about your mouth and spit it out when it has cooled.

If you have a headache (whether or not it’s caused by a toothache), peppermint can help relieve it. To aid with pain relief, take a few sniffs of peppermint oil or apply it to your temples.

Using hydrogen peroxide as a rinse

Hydrogen peroxide, when used as a mouthwash, kills microorganisms and relieves pain. Using hydrogen peroxide, rinse your mouth and spit it out.
