Three Signs that Dental Implants Are a Great Option for You

For some people, dental implants are the solution they’ve wanted for years. However, they are not the right option for everyone. Keep reading to find out three signs that you may be a good candidate for dental implants. If you are not sure, or you want to set up an appointment to find out more about your cosmetic dentistry options, contact California Dental Group at (800) 407-0161.

  1. You Have Healthy Gums
  2. One of the biggest factors that will determine if you are a good candidate for dental plants is the state of your gums. If you have gum disease, you are likely to have other oral health issues and are also at higher risk for overall health issues. The good news is that if your gums are not in good shape, we can help to get them in good shape.

We will begin by looking at your gums and giving you a thorough assessment to determine their health. In most cases, we will be able to treat your gum disease well enough to allow for dental implants. We will discuss the options with you so you can make the right choice.

  3. You Don’t Have Significant Bone Loss in Your Jaw
  4. When we install dental implants, they actually go below your gums and directly into the bone. In order for the implants to work well for you, there must be enough jaw bone left for us to install the posts into. The bad news is that lost teeth often lead to an acceleration of lost bone too. If you have had a missing tooth for a long time, then you are likely to have significant bone loss too.

There is no way to determine if you have enough bone left for dental implants other than talking to your loss. If you are not a candidate for implants, don’t worry – we have other options available for you. Note as well that just because you have been missing teeth for years does not mean you do not have enough bone. Heredity can play a big part in bone loss too.

  5. Your Dentist Recommends Dental Implants
  6. Even if you have great gums and your bone has not deteriorated, there may be other reasons that your dentist does not believe implants are the right choice. The implantation process involves several steps and we will not recommend you move forward until we have completed an in-depth examination and consultation.

We have seen dental implants provide excellent results for people but they are not for everyone. You can count on us to give you an honest assessment of what is best for you. Contact California Dental Group at (800) 407-0161 now to learn more about how we can help you.
