Does Invisalign Hurt and Other Frequently Asked Questions

It’s common for a person to think if pain as soon as they think of orthodontic treatments. This is unfortunate because today’s orthodontic treatments are much more comfortable and effective than the orthodontic treatments of just a decade ago. Invisalign in particularly is virtually invisible and is much more comfortable than many people think.

If you have questions about Invisalign read on to get answers or reach out to California Dental Group at (800) 407-0161 for answers. We can answer your questions, schedule a consultation, and offer you exceptional dental treatment – including orthodontics.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign works through a series of clear plastic trays. These trays are called aligners. You’ll get your first set and wear it for two weeks before changing to a new set. You’ll continue to change to a new set of aligners every two weeks until you’ve completed your treatment.

How long does Invisalign take?

It depends on a number of factors, including what issues you’re trying to modify and how serious they are. However, you can expect most treatments to last between nine months and 15 months. This means that in less than a year you could have a straight smile you’ll be happy to show to the world.

Can Invisalign fix the same things braces can fix?

In most cases, yes. It can fix things like a crossbite, open bite, and underbite. If you have teeth that overlap, are crowded, or are otherwise poorly aligned then Invisalign may be a good choice. If you have a large gap or wide space then they may be a good fit. If your teeth are twisted, crooked, or otherwise rotated, then you may want Invisalign. The best way to know for sure if it can help with your issues is to contact California Dental Group at (800) 407-0161 and make an appointment.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign isn’t right for every orthodontic issue but it does have benefits in many situations. Since there are no sharp wires or metal brackets, it’s much more comfortable than braces. It’s also much more convenient because you’re actually able to take out your aligners whenever you need to, whether it’s to brush your teeth, eat, or have your picture taken.

Unlike braces, you won’t be limited to the foods you can eat, thanks to the fact that the aligners can be removed. They’re also almost invisible, which means patients don’t have the insecurity that can come along with braces.

Does Invisalign hurt?

The truth is that anything that’s moving your teeth can be uncomfortable. However, Invisalign doesn’t have metal wires. It doesn’t have brackets. Your teeth are very slowly moved into a straight position and you don’t have to get them painfully tightened like braces may require.
