What to Expect if You Choose Dental Implants: Services You’ll Get

There are many reasons our patients choose dental implants. They can be used to replace teeth, to take the place of partial or full dentures, to prevent bone loss after a tooth has been lost, to be able to eat any food they want, and to prevent shaving down teeth that are healthy in order to install a bridge.

No matter what your reasons are for getting dental implants, at California Dental Group we hope that everyone will choose a dental professional who’s qualified to handle these procedures. When you work with us, you can count on our implants to include all the services required to give you the best result. Read on to learn more about them and then reach out to us at (800) 407-0161 to make your appointment.

Sinus lift augmentation

In many cases, when a person loses their upper back teeth, they may have their sinuses enlarge. This can make it difficult to place dental implants in these upper back parts of the mouth, due to the fact that the sinus is simply air-filled space – remember that dental implants must be surrounded by solid bone.

With a sinus lift augmentation or graft, we will use a simple surgical procedure to return your sinus cavity back to where it was originally. We’ll also replace the bone that was lost due to the enlarged sinuses. This can take between nine months to a year to heal before we can then install the dental implants. Remember that every decision we make is designed to ensure that you get the best possible results.

Autogenous bone grafting

There are other issues that can lead to not having enough bone quantity to support implants. If that’s the case, then we’ll essentially borrow bone from other areas of your mouth. It’s then grafted into deficient areas. We’ll choose the best possible area to borrow it from, whether your chin or the back of your jaw where you used to have wisdom teeth.

Implant site development

If you had teeth that had to be removed because of infection, then you likely lost bone around that infected tooth. In this case, bone will need to be grated, but we can do this while we’re removing the tooth. This helps to more easily facilitate placing a dental implant later on down the line.

Implant maintenance

Once you’ve had your dental implants complete, it’s essential that you ensure the area is clean and free from infection. Remember that your implants are capable of accumulating plaque and tartar just as your teeth did. As a result, you’ll need professional dental cleanings to keep your implants in good shape. How often you’ll need them will vary based on your needs but we’ll go over that with you.
